Software Name: Office 2003 Professional Edition
Upgrade Information: Not Applicable
Software Main Type: Productivity Application
Strengths: Seeing your money go to Microsoft makes you feel warm and tingly inside.
Weakness: There is a learning curve required for this upgrade. It is NOT user-friendly. Help and tutorials are pathetic. Plan on getting a book. Most new features apply only to networks and developers.
If you don't REALLY need the 2003 version, don't bother. Use your older, familiar versionUnless this is your first copy, then you might as well start here. If you do use 2003 (or XP), you really will need a book or two that explains the new version. And don't count on more productivity unless you are a serious pro on a network. Home and small business users have not gotten much help.
Strengths: Very good integration of all Office programs make transfering data and graphics between programs very easy.
Weakness: Continued support of the Microsoft monopoly.
The installation went smoothly and so far there have been no operational problems. Although this product is quite expensive, the price that I found via PriceGrabber.com could not be beat.
Strengths: Powerful, easy to use.
Weakness: Cartoon characters interfere with help system.
As much as I dislike monopolies, I have to say that Gates's kids have created an extremely powerful, easy to use package here. HOWEVER, StarOffice offers virtually the same power and ease of use. I have always found the silly help cartoon characters to literally be a waste of time, slowing rather than expediting obtaining help. Yes, I know how to turn them off. They STILL appear (e.g., when...
Strengths: Superfast setup with no apparent incompatibility.
Weakness: None
This product installed without a hitch. I was able to get online and perform all the updates without any evidence of incompatibility. The programs functions like the retailed product I purchased for my desktop.
Strengths: AWESOME SOFTWARE, EASY DOWNLOADING, COMPATIBLE WITH ALL MY PROGRAMS
Weakness: NONE
AWESOME SOFTWARE, EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED, ONE OF THE BEST PRODUCTS I HAVE EVER USED, AND I HAVE USED ALOT OF SOFTWARE, I GUESS I USE THE OFFICE 2003 EDITION, BECAUSE IT IS COMPATIBLE WITH EVERYTHING AND IT IS SO SIMPLE TO USE!
Strengths: Microsoft Office is a defacto standard. This version of that product has all the programs and features.
Weakness: Some features complicated to use. It takes some time to become fluent in the use of these programs. Word has some automatic formatting features that kick in unexpectedly, requiring the user to adapt.
Microsoft Office is the software used at both my job and the college that I sometimes attend, so this is the software that is most useful to me. It installed onto my Windows XP machine with no problems at all, and it works fine.
Strengths: Installation was automatic and went without a hitch.
Weakness: The installed applications require significant file storage overhead.
The application suite provides great functionality and configurability. Suggest getting usefull free downloads from MS for each individual module Now I can easily work remotely on all MS applications and transfer files back and forth to the office.
Strengths: Easy installation and updates, EXCELLENT on-line training available at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/training/default.aspx. Basic features easy to use.
Weakness: Sometimes "helpful" features turned on by default can clog the screen
MS Office is the standard for good reason. It is so flexible and easy to use the basic features, yet has a depth of capabilities unmatched anywhere. The available on-line training and automatic updates are great features.
Useful and great. Not very easy to understand. Installation was hard and the user guide really didn't help. Great for offices but bad for home or PC Gamers.

Microsoft Office 2003 Professional Edition
Strengths: Highly integrated Office tools help transfering data and graphics between programs very simple. It's almost necessary for people who do presentation or training on a regular basis.
Weakness: Microsoft's monopoly makes it quite expensive to obtain, unless your company is willing to pay for it of course.
For most everyday users, there's not much difference between Office 2003 and Office XP, or even Office 2000. The reasons that I got it is because it's the most recent Office release and it's compatible with Windows XP. I did ran into a bug during installation of the Business Contact Manager. It complained about "not enough space in drive C:" due to the installer miscalculating the available disk...
